I love how Sherlock always looks so proud/satisfied when John shows his badass side. Like “Look at my friend, he’s awesome, and he’s my friend, not your friend.”

Even from an entirely non-slashy perspective, just as the best of friends - Sherlock just always seems so genuinely pleased when other people get to see how exceptional John is, how he always manages to defy expectations.
